One of the functions of a municipal Planning Department involves the formation of development concepts and goals for the land use of the area. In the Thorhild County, this vision is embodied within our statutory plans and bylaws. Area structure plans and municipal development plans deal with longer range policies and objectives and tend to be more general in scope. A land use bylaw divides a municipality into land use districts which are slated for particular types of development and are governed by a specific set of regulations. The purpose of these various plans and bylaws is to ensure orderly and compatible development within the municipality.
