Due to the continued excessive dry conditions, high temperatures and winds, Thorhild County has issued a total Fire Ban. Current fire hazards are now considered extreme.
- Thorhild County urges everyone to recognize and proactively eliminate any possible outdoor sources of heat and ignition.
- Users of indoor solid fuel fireplaces are asked to ensure embers are not escaping from chimneys.
- All forms of vehicles can be a serious source of ignition in extreme conditions. Use caution when working or driving in grassy areas.
- Having a fire extinguisher and/or water source readily available while performing outdoor activities is advised.
Fines for starting a fire during a Fire Advisory, Fire Restriction or Fire Ban are outlined in Bylaw 10-2022 Schedule “B”
The following activities are prohibited:
- All outdoor burning
- Explosive Targets
- Fireworks discharge
The following are allowed and are to be used with caution:
- Propane and natural gas-powered appliances
