Fire Advisory No Longer in Effect

Effective October 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

New fire burn permits will now be issued. Please note, there is up to a 72-hour turnaround for permits as our Fire Guardians are volunteer members of Thorhild County Emergency Services. The use of burn barrels, cooking fires and warming fires are permitted. Residents and visitors to Thorhild County are advised to be diligent in fire safety practices while conducting any burning.

Be cognizant of burning in high winds as they will dry fine fuels quickly and carry embers long distances leading to spotting and fast-moving surface fires.

Prior to requesting a permit, please ensure that burn pile(s) are a minimum of 82 feet (25 meters) from roads, fences, structures and other uncleared land. Bylaw 12-2023 15(h)(ii)

Fire Permits may now be requested online by going to:
www.thorhildcounty.com/Services/Fire-Emergency-Services/Fire-Permits

Fire permit burning requirements may be viewed in Bylaw 12-2023 here.
