Key Responsibilities

Thorhild County Infrastructure Department is seeking a suitable individual to carry out the following duties under the direction and supervision of the Director of Infrastructure:          

Fleet

  • Responsible for the management of preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Develop long-term capital equipment replacement program.
  • Responsible for the analysis of equipment operation using key performance metrics.
  • Responsible for equipment tenders.
  • Must assist in the performance of work, when required.

Facilities

  • Develop and maintain facility management program (two waste transfer stations and residential curbside program).
  • Responsible for facility repair estimates.
  • Manage waste collection and recycling programs.

General

  • Budget preparation for fleet services, facility maintenance, waste transfer stations, and residential curbside collection.
  • Responsible for policy and procedure development and implementation.
  • Participate in management meetings and conduct department meetings.
Required Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge in the operation and purchase of equipment.
  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate preferred.
  • Experience in the management of facilities and waste management is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Experience in inventory management, tendering and procurement is an asset, and/or minimum of ten years experience.
  • Standard First Aid or willing to obtain.
  • Physical ability and dexterity to perform a variety of manual tasks (heavy lifting, squatting, bending, twisting and climbing. Work is performed with exposure to the outdoor elements.
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing are essential.
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Records Check, Driver’s Abstract and Fitness to Work Assessment.

 

Additional Information

Thorhild County offers a comprehensive benefit program. Salary for this position will be determined by the candidate’s education and experience. Hourly pay range is $52.19-$66.51. Current employees of Thorhild County fulfilling the requirements essential to this position shall be considered.
