Subdividing

What is SUBDIVISION?

Subdivision is the process of dividing a single parcel of land into two or more parcels,  each to be given a separate land title.  The Alberta Municipal Government Act and Subdivision and Development Regulations govern subdivision of land.

After the subdivision is approved, it can be registered  at the Alberta Land Titles Office after which time separate land title certificates will be issued.

Apply for a SUBDIVISION

If you wish to divide a parcel of land into smaller lots, you will need to receive approval from Thorhild County.  A completed application form, fees and supporting  information must be submitted to the Planning and Development Department c/o Subdivision Approving Authority Officer.

  • Contact our office by email or call us at 780-398-3741.  We will assist with the subdivision application and process.
  • A consultation meeting with the Subdivision Approving Authority Officer prior to application submission is recommended.
